Position: Studio Program Assistant

Organization: Kaufherr Resource Center 

Location: River North, Chicago, IL (On-site only)

Reports to: Executive Director, Melissa Pryor

Position Type: Part-Time

Rate: $20.00 per hour

Hours: 20 hours per week 

Schedule: On-Site. The schedule is open to some discussion, but the role requires one set evening and one set weekend day. For example, Tuesdays (9-5), Wednesdays (12-8), and Saturdays (9-4).

Contract Period: The organization is piloting this position for a one year period. Available funding will determine possible future extension of this role.

Studio Program Assistant Overview:

The KRC is looking for a part-time (20 hrs/wk) Studio Program Assistant to work directly with the Center’s Executive Director and A/V Technical Assistant in supporting the auditions and careers of SAG-AFTRA, Actors Equity Association and AGMA actors, broadcasters, and other media professionals in Chicago. This role requires high-level schedule management paired with delivering direct creative audition services. The ideal candidate leads with kindness and compassion while running a tight ship. 

Key Responsibilities:

● Provide one-on-one support to actors self-taping in our Video Suite. This includes deciphering audition breakdowns and instructions, acting as the audition reader, providing basic feedback if requested, recording the audition on studio equipment, basic clip editing, and assistance submitting self-taped auditions as needed on acting platforms like Actors Access and Casting Networks. 

● Provide one-on-one audition reader and screen recording support via Zoom appointments. 

● Organize and moderate the twice monthly on-camera and voiceover Studio Jams program. This is an ongoing small practice group of actors who will meet to work on sides and audition techniques in our audio and video suites. 

● Assist with scheduling and managing studio and center reservations via email, phone, and text. 

● Provide backup technical and creative support in our Audio Suite for actors recording, editing, and submitting voiceover auditions and projects. 

● Assist with capturing program content for the Center’s social media pages and newsletter. 

● Database management for tracking attendance, visitors, services, and community impact. 

● Other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

● A patient, supportive acting partner with rock solid cold read skills.  

● Experience with submitting auditions on platforms like Actors Access, Casting Networks, Playbill, and Backstage.

● Organized, reliable, independently motivated, and creatively collaborative

● Tech Savvy. The ability to navigate between different apps and editing software is a real plus.
